Tooth extraction!

December 1st, 2009

Darn, I forgot that tooth extraction can be so hard and painful especially if it is a molar or premolar. After months of pain, i finally decided to remove the culprit. There was a cavity in the tooth and it had reached the tooth nerve. Whenever i drank cold water (no,  am not making the sensodyne pub), it hurt. Colleagues told me to use clove. It works only for half a day and at night, it was panadol. My head even ached.  I was for removal of the nerve and dental fillings, but the way the cavity has been created, it was better to remove the tooth. The cavity was on the inside. Should the nerve be removed the dentist has to cut through the other side, and this would wreck the tooth. After having removed the tooth, the dentist told me that a wisdom tooth has been unable to find its way to the surface and it was wrecking the surrounding teeth. A surgery is needed. What the hell!!! For the past first 15 years, i had problems with my teeth and evern underwent orthodontics. Needless to say tooth extraction and surgery were on the menu.  Now again re surgery. When will this drama end?

Life tastes better

November 28th, 2009

I might make some animosities among some pro KFC, but i could not help making a comment on its advert ” Life tastes better with KFC”. It portrays people who eat KFC see funny or delirious things- the employee seeing his boss as the rabbit in Chantal Goya’s song “un lapin a tue un chasseur”, and the aged pensioner seeing her inmates dancing. This makes me think that somehow there might be some LSD or some drugs in the bread or in the ingredients. Sure this is funny but the advert is a double edge sword. This is my opinion and the advert can be interpreted differently by others.

Funny combination!

November 14th, 2009

The boss’s wife told me a funny story some days back. She told her maid to prepare corned beef salad or tuna, however without specifying which one she preferred. Now when it was time to lunch, great was her surprise to hear her husband ask what kind of salad she had asked to prepare. The wife replied beef. The husband replied that the salad tasted tuna. The wife quickly picked up the phone and queried the maid. The latter told her that she prepared a mixture of tuna and beef( I laughed very loudly when i heard that and at her face) . The wife asked the maid whether she has ever eaten such a combination to which the maid replied negatively and continued that she had found it bizarre that the wife asked her to prepare such a mixture. Needless to say that the wife was very angry on that day. Who is at fault in this story? I have a hint, do you? Hahaha!!!

Time flies!

November 1st, 2009

Already the 1st November 2009. Woahh!! Time flies really fast! Soon it will be Christmas, then end of year 2009 and beginning of year 2010.  It will also be the beginning of grey and white hair.  So what have you been doing so far?

Que feriez vous si vous decrochez le premier lot?

October 29th, 2009

The Loterie Nationale has been officially launched on Wednesday 28th October 2009.  On the occasion of the soft launch, the holder of the winning ticket (6/40) will be awarded the prize of Rs 12 million. So what is the loterie Nationale? Guess all of you know the loto (no, not the creole word for car), the game in which you need to hold all the numbers in order to win. Yes this is it. 58% of the receipts will go directly into the government pocket to fund “de grandes causes nationales”.

Prior to the official launching of the game, Lottotech (the company behind the loto game) invested massively on advertising, training retailers (spread widely in the island) on the use of their machines. The draw will be held on the 7th November. So if you think that probability has no secrets for you, then off you go! BTW the ticket costs Rs 20 for a choice of 6 numbers. Good luck!!!

Earth shakes!

October 13th, 2009

There was a quake yesterday at GMT 0315hrs 1014 kms to the nord east of Port Louis. According to the USGS (US Geological Survey), the event did not generate tidal waves and there was no tsunami warning. The earth in Mauritius and Rodrigues did not shake in the aftermath. There is a concern from the head of the public service commission(and also the president of the Central Cyclone & other National Disasters Committee)  that the  meteorological station should have informed the population about this matter(despite that no real threats took place). The head of the PSC did not appreciate the fact that as head of the committee no information was communicated to him in the first place.  On the meteorological side, Mr Suresh Boodhoo insisted on the frequent and low scale quake and that should a major threat arise, the authorities concerned will be informed accordingly.

New car!

September 30th, 2009

No, mind you i did not buy a new car like the title suggests. My pocket is too swallow for that. My boss did buy one. From chit and chats, I understood he bought a mercedes. Since he did not like what the agency proposed, he decided to replace all parts he did not like. So bumper, grille. wheel rims and tyres were all removed and replaced with those he liked. Till then only a select people were able to view the new vehicle, and no i am not among them. He was to take possession yesterday and we all thought we would be able to view the star but were all disappointed. The car was hidden in his garage and he did not come to work in it. As it was dark black (like milk white) in colour, it easily caught dirt so he had someone from the company to clean and polish. We all laughed at the colleague and told him that he needed ginseng since he would use all his stamina in polishing the star. As the saying goes, new is beautiful, and like love, a drug.

Careful guys!

September 8th, 2009

This morning when my colleague came to fetch me, he informed me about an accident on the motorway and told me that according to info on a radio station, there were several dead. When we tuned to another station the figure was revised. So we were quite lost since we had 2 versions of the same story. Journalists sometimes tend to be very sensationalist.

“Un grand pouvoir implique de grandes responsabilites”- uncle ben.

Many of us reach work late and worried about colleagues when heard that the bus was serving route 141. Fortunately they took the later bus. But it is still sad for those who did not ask to pay for the lack of precaution and prudence from drivers.

On a lighter note, pious pilgrimage to those on their way to Father Laval’s tomb.

Summer already??

September 1st, 2009

Some days back, it would seem that summer has already reached our shore. Was very hot and on top of that, there were the famous humming sounds near the ears and big red swollen bites on legs, arms and neck. On the way back home, we tuned on the radio, and the talk was inevitably H1n1. So after nth recommendations and stated facts by his guests, the presenter was saying that summer is yet to come and the meteorological station was forecasting a fall in temperature in the hours to come. Will the fall last 12 hours later? Stay tuned for the latest update, check sa!!! Hahaha!
