Finance bill

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Weather was nasty this morning. But now it is shinning but very windy and nevertherless cold.

On saturday, after l left for work, she cried. Don’t know why. I was told that she was feeling very cold and she shook life a leaf. My father, panicked, called for her brothers and sister to her bed. I think the reason for her crying is that she was feeling lonely.
My grandmother is suffering from the consequence of her fall. She cried every night and had to take pain killers. Think she is getting addicted to that reliever.
Yesterday, it was raining all the day. So took the opp to sleep all day. Then watched some films and got headache. Took some pill and resleep again. Rodrigues is without a regional assembly since saturday. Serge Clair resigned from his post and since then a temporary commissioner was appointed in the wait of a newly elected one. On the mainland, debate around the finance bill is still going strong especially over the residential property tax.

Weather not good

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Weather was good in the morning, but has degraded now. There are spells of rain, and brrr it is cold… Did not wear pull in the morning when going to work. PLanned to go out, but will have to resign now.

My grandma fell yesterday when her great grandson was fooling around with her walking stick. She fell on her back. She complained all day yesterday and could not move. But now is feeling better. She can walk and we could only hope that no bones are broken or complications arise. Sinon big problem!!!
Let’s hope that weekend will go fine, and that the weather will show signs of recovery.

Masala

Friday! Last day of the week…No much change for me as i work on Saturday. Today, there has only been matinal rain. It is sunny now, hopefully this will last till afternoon. Working while listening to the radio, Anastasia on the air.
Watched Graham Masala yesterday on MBC1, as no much movies lately on National television. Had the choice between top gun on the second channel, the hindustani movie on the first channel and documentaries on the third one. So for 2 hours, watched amusing, embarrasing, sexy scenes. Mauritius was chosen for the purpose of the film. Very entertaining!!! After that, dodo….

Temps de chien

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

Today, since morning it has been raining cats and dogs. According to meteo maurice, there will be improvements during the afternoon. It’s quite weird that weather all of a sudden deteriorated when yesterday it was good. I even caught flu because of the change in conditions.

Do not feel like working today, may be because of the chilling environment caused by the rain. Clear for now, but do not know whether will recur. Am feeling hungry now.

Thanks Eddy for the words of encouragement. Really appreciate that and thanks to Stephane too for making it possible. Keep blog rolling!!! You are simply the best…

My Blog

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

Finally! Yeah! A blog space for me. After all i have heard or read, i was a bit apprehensive about the blog thing. But as the saying goes, must try it.

Here in dodo land, it is very windy and chilling. Everyone covering him/herself, protecting thyself from flue by consuming vitamin c. Life’s becoming expensive, even more after the recent budget. The impact is more than appalling. Fuel rose by more than 20 percent per litre, flour, rice no longer subsidised. To counter the rising inflation, one would expect a rise in the salary, but the govt proposition of raising the pay by only rs 135 is sluggish compared to the cascade rise in price on only the basic necessities. The papers today mention that now buses (especially private owned ones) want a rise in the ticket price of rs 8-10. Main reason put forward is the rise in fuel and the usual rhetoric of cost increase of maintenance (eg tyre repairs).

To add to the erosion of our purchasing power, the finance bill has been enacted to tax every form of interest, let in be in savings or on term deposit. This is a govt dominer, taking the fact that ti dimoune has longed saved for the future welfare of their children.

There is a growing debate around campement tax but the matter is being relegated to second front by the atrocities of a small girl who was brutalised by her parents. Where wre we going??
